An eclipse based workbench for doing scientific data analysis.

DAWN is a high quality generic tool for scientific data analysis which implements sophisticated support for :

(1) Visualisation of data in 1D, 2D and 3D

(2) Python script development, debugging and execution

(3) Workflows for analysing scientific data calling Python and binary codes

DAWN is not restricted to one scientific domain. It is developed by and for the synchrotron community foremost but has strong overlap with other communities like neutron scattering, photon science and any scientific communities with the above or similar needs.

The first scientific domains which DAWN is targeting are powder diffraction, macromolecular crystallography, and tomography. Any scientific domain which needs visualisation, python and workflows can profit from DAWN.

DAWN is an open source software built on the Eclipse/RCP platform in order to scale to address a wide range of applications and to benefit from the workbench and advanced plugin system implemented in Eclipse. The only limiting factors are ideas and human resources. For this reason contributors are welcomed!

The main institutes developing DAWN are the Diamond Light Source (http://www.diamond.ac.uk/), the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (http://www.esrf.eu/) and the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (http://www.embl.fr/).

  2. Bill Pulford has said he can replace these with the label boxes from the Confluence Guidelines

    1. I wouldn't do anything on this until Mark has had a chance to look at it. After speaking to him about this it may be that this content (or some of it) needs to be archived or just removed.
